OK I am going to take this blog into a totally different direction this morning! Tell what does everyone eat for breakfast? As my mother and I am sure most of your mothers have told you “It is the most important meal of the day”. I believed her and I still eat breakfast every morning!
In my readings on this subject I found out there are actual statistics out there that back up this theory. Take for instance this excerpt from Amery Regional Medical Centers website.
“What you choose to eat for breakfast makes a big difference for your health. A variety of fruits can bring you near the minimum number of five daily fruit and vegetable servings recommended for lower cancer risk. Or once in a while try a medley of vegetables in an omelet. In fact according to the American Institute for Cancer Research, eating more vegetables and fruits, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight could cut cancer rates by 30 to 40 percent.“
I eat breakfast every morning and have never struggled with weight issues. Although I do try to exercise and eat healthy throughout the day, this seems to help curb my hunger, and keep me lean and mean. I limit my soda intake to maybe 1-2 sodas a week. OK, back to breakfast now.
Below are a few samples of some of the foods I enjoy most for breakfast.
I eat oatmeal at least 3 times a week. After reading and drooling over all the articles on Kath Eats REAL FOOD. I was inspired to eat more oatmeal. Her recipes are amazing and they really make you want to eat healthier.
Another favorite of mine is Kashi cereal. I LOVE this stuff! I was never raised on the sugary candy coated cereals, thank GOD! So I grew to love healthier cereals. Out of which my love for Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal came about.
OK enough about me and my breakfast choices. Now I want to know what you eat. What is a typical healthy breakfast for you? Or are you one of the millions who skip breakfast? Tell me why I want to know!
